For Josie Schroder, funeral service is more than a profession—it's a calling. As the owner of Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home and a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both Indiana and Ohio, she is committed to walking alongside families with compassion, honesty, and genuine care during some of life's most difficult moments.

Born and raised in Eaton, Ohio, Josie graduated from Eaton High School and Miami Valley Career Technology Center in 2017, where she earned her cosmetology license. While working in a salon and attending college, she discovered her passion for helping others through funeral service. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Mortuary Science from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2021, completed her apprenticeship in her hometown, and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Ohio. After moving to Indiana in 2022, she obtained her Indiana Funeral Director License and, in April 2025, proudly became the owner of Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home.

Josie believes that every family deserves to be cared for with kindness, respect, and individualized attention. She understands that no two lives—or families—are the same, and she considers it a privilege to help create meaningful tributes that reflect the people being honored. Her goal is to be more than a funeral director; she strives to be a trusted resource that families can turn to for guidance, support, and peace of mind before, during, and after a loss.

Committed to providing the highest level of care, Josie continues to invest in her education and professional development. In 2024, she attended the nationally recognized Vernie Fountain Embalming Seminar, where she received advanced training in embalming and restorative art techniques. She believes that continually learning allows her to better serve the families who place their trust in her.

Outside of the funeral home, Josie enjoys staying active and is a member of a local CrossFit gym in Lafayette. She cherishes time with her husband, Garrett, who is also a licensed funeral director, and their Goldendoodle, Snoop. Her faith, family, and community are at the center of everything she does.

Josie is proud to be part of the Greater Lafayette community and is actively involved as a member of the Association of Women's Business Owners (AWBO) of Greater Lafayette, the Indiana Funeral Directors Association, and as a volunteer with Franciscan Hospice where she provides free haircuts/styling to hospice patients.

Richard W. “Rich” Groeber graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science with an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science in 1976. As a student, Rich was employed at the former Moore Funeral Home in Marshall, IL. He received his Illinois license in 1976 and his Indiana license in 1983. He and his wife, Donna, purchased the Hahn Funeral Homes in January 2005. The name was changed to Hahn-Groeber Funeral Homes. 

Rich is a member and former district director of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association, a member and a former regional director of the International Order of the Golden Rule; a board member of the 5 Points Child Safety Center and Fire Museum; St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette; Knights of Columbus; Sons of the American Legion and Beta Phi Sigma Fraternity and the Professional Car Society.

Sally Niehoff has been in the funeral industry for over 10 years, serving as a Preneed Specialist, providing pre- arrangement education. She also serves as a Community Representative working with local seniors, veterans and families.  In her time off, Sally enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, swimming and cooking and listening to live music.

Lily is currently in her second and final year of Funeral Service education at Vincennes University. As a first-generation college student, she is proud to be the first in her family pursuing a career in funeral directing. Lily graduated from West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School in 2024 with both a technical and honors diploma.

Her passion for funeral service grew during her time as a CNA at Saint Anthony’s, where she gained valuable experience performing post-mortem care. Lily’s favorite part of working at Hahn-Groeber is guiding families through every step of the process—from their initial call to the final viewing—and hearing their heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care provided.

After graduating, Lily hopes to obtain her funeral directing license and become a permanent member of the Hahn-Groeber team, working closely under Josie. She is dedicated to growing her skills and continuing to serve families with compassion and professionalism.

Outside of work, Lily enjoys performing in musicals at the Civic Theatre in Lafayette and playing Animal Crossing. When she’s not out and about, she loves spending time with her cat and two ferretts.
