Ramon Miller

Ramon Caryl Miller of Oxford, Indiana passed away peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2023 with family by his side at BeeHive Homes of Lafayette. Ramon was born in Winchester, Kentucky on June 3, 1931 to Silas and Jewell Miller. Ramon graduated from Oxford High School and studied at Indiana University. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War earning the Korean Campaign Ribbon, two Purple Hearts, and the Bronze Star for his valor and bravery in the line of duty. In 1954, Ramon married Lois Fleenor in Oxford, Indiana where they lived and raised their family. Ramon retired from Alcoa Aluminum where he worked for 36 years. After retiring from Alcoa, he worked as an independent contractor in the Alcoa Purchasing Department and created his own company, RM Supply Company. Ramon was a man known for his great sense of humor and funny anecdotes. He was an avid golfer and IU fan. He enjoyed war history and geography and was always ready to “look up” any information for passionate discussion. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lafayette Alcoa Retiree’s Club, Oak Grove Country Club, and a Charter Member of the Oxford Lions Club. Ramon is survived by three children. David (Cindy) Miller, Phoenix, AZ; Ramona (Wynn) Lawson, West Lafayette, IN; Angela Dimmich, West Lafayette, IN; daughter-in-law, Marcia (Alvin) Miller, West Lafayette, IN; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, brother, Norm (Karen) Miller as well as many nieces and nephews. Ramon was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alvin Miller; son-in-law, Greg Royal; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Alvin Fischbach; and brother, Chalmer Miller. The family would like to thank the staff at BeeHive Homes of Lafayette for the excellent and loving care given to our father and husband. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford, IN from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday February 22. Funeral services will be held at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford at 1:00 PM Thursday February 23. The interment will follow the service in Justus Cemetery in Oxford with American Legion military rites. Donations can be made in Ramon’s name to the Oxford Lions Club, 708 N. 5th Street, P.O.
