Michael Tolen

Michael L. Tolen, 75, of Fowler, IN passed away at Green Hill Manor in Fowler Thursday January 7, 2021 following a brief illness. He had been a patient there for the past six days. Michael was born in Lafayette, IN September 19, 1945 to the late Mills and Loral V. (Chastain) Tolen. He was a 1963 graduate of Oxford High School and received his B. S. Degree in Engineering from Purdue University January 1968. Early in his career he was employed as a design engineer for Uniroyal in Detroit, MI first in tire design and later in computers. He returned to the Benton County area and started farming until his retirement in 2014. Michael was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford. Surviving is his sister, Peggy Cooper (Richard) of Oxford and a brother, Patrick Tolen (Nina) of Fowler; nieces and nephews, Amanda Williams, Casandra Dalton, Matthew Cooper, Darren Bowman, Ryan Bowman, Barry Tolen, Rick Tolen, Chad Tolen, Heath Tolen and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Bowman. Friends may call from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Tuesday January 12 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford, Fr. Richard Weisenberger officiating. Interment will follow in Oxford Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
