Lucille Cooper, 93, of Lafayette and formerly of Benton County, IN passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette Thursday February 24, 2022 where she had been a patient the past six days. Lucille was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky September 25, 1928 the daughter of the late Virl and Grace (Foster) Tarter. The family relocated to Benton County, and she graduated from Ambia, IN High School. Lucille married Charles Richard “Dick” Cooper, Sr. in Boswell, IN June 7, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was employed by the former Sarge Biltz Restaurant in Lafayette for 20 years, and later Rostone Corporation, also in Lafayette, for 20 years before her retirement. Surviving is a son, Charles Richard Cooper, Jr. of Oxford, IN; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, with a great-grandson on the way. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Leo Cooper, three brothers, Wilbur, Hoyt and Jack Tarter and two sisters, Berniece and Anita Tarter. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at the Boswell Cemetery on Thursday March 3 at 11:00 AM. Please leave memories and condolences at www.hahngroeberfuneralhome.com.
