John Frederick Ribeiro was born in Berkeley California on December 10, 1992. He started his primary schooling in Worcester, Massachusetts, and moved to West Lafayette, Indiana, where he completed his studies at the West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School. He then enrolled at Purdue University, graduating in May 2015 with an Electrical Engineering degree while a member of the Purdue Engineering Student Council and a long distance runner for the Purdue University Cross Country and Track & Field teams. He completed his Master's degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering at Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, Zürich in 2017 and was a Doctoral student in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Physics at Purdue University. John was an idealist and a dreamer, striving to impact the world with his intellect and kindness. His pursuit of excellence was reflected in his character: his incredible work ethic, genuine compassion, generosity for his friends and family were truly admirable. He had passions extending through the sciences, fields of engineering, humanities, and the arts. He was a talented writer and musician. His broad smile was his hallmark feature, the manifestation of his bright spirit. He was fortunate to have many friends for whom he deeply cared. The light of his soul will be carried on by the many lives that he touched. He departed us prematurely. He is survived by his parents Fabio and Beata Ribeiro and sister Julia Ribeiro. Due to current COVID-19 conditions, a private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Ann’s Church in Lafayette, Fr. Dennis Faker officiating. A celebration of his life will be conducted at a later date. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home of Lafayette is honored to serve the Ribeiro family.
