Joan Lesch

Joan E. (Miller) Lesch passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday March 15, 2022 with her daughter Carol and her beloved cat Daisy by her side. Born in Benton County on April 24, 1932 to A. Ray Miller and Elva (Stonecipher) Miller. Joan attended Oxford High School until 1946 when the home burned and the family moved to Boswell, IN. Joan graduated from Boswell High School in 1950. Boswell High School in 1950. On October 13, 1951 she married Wallace W. Lesch in Rossville, IN, they were married for 47 years. They lived their entire married live in Oxford. On August 3,1960 they adopted their daughter Carol who survives. Joan worked for Fellure’s IGA for years prior to becoming the clerk at the Oxford Post Office. She retired from the Post Office in 1996. In 2007, Joan started crocheting Prayer Shawls for people who had health problems or anyone who was going through rough times. She made and gave over 250 away. She also crocheted scarves for the homeless making and donating well over 200. She started in 1999 volunteering at the Benton County Retirement Home doing Bingo once a month. She delivered meals, sat on the CAP Board, Lifetime Member at the Oxford Methodist Church. Was Co-Coordinator of the S.H.A.R.E Food Project for many years. She was a 50 year member of the Dan Patch Home Extension Club and Grand Marshall of the Dan Patch Days in 2016. She enjoyed working with the Crafty Crafters at the church making baby quilts to send with work crews who traveled to disaster areas. She is proceeded in death by her parents A. Ray and Elva Miller, Brother Dale L. Miller and her husband Wallace Lesch. She is survived by her daughter Carol Lesch, Oxford, 1 Brother-in-law, 1 sister- in-law, 3 nieces, 2 great nieces and 1 great-great niece all of Florida. Joan was a kind soul, never met a stranger, very best Mom and will be missed by many. Special thanks to Elara Hospice. Extra special thanks to Bethanie, Marissa, Evie and Judy. You all were a God send. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford from 10 AM until the funeral at 11 AM Tuesday March 22, Pastor Linda Smock officiating. Interment will follow in Oxford West Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Hospice or the Almost Home Humane Society of Lafayette.
