Barbara J (Porter) Diamond, 91, of Coram, NY passed away Tuesday morning November 5, 2019 in New York. Barbara was born June 27, 1928, the daughter of Roy L. and Juanita R Porter, late of Darlington, Indiana. Growing up in New Jersey, Barbara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Wilson College, and completed graduate courses in Biology at Columbia University. She was employed as a Research Technician at Columbia University, the University of Rochester, and at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY. She was very active in politics and was a staff member in the New York State Assembly. Barbara married Eli Diamond, who preceded her in death. Barbara and Eli had a son, Keith, who also preceded her in death. Barbara had a bright, sparkling personality and a sense of humor that engaged all who met her. She enjoyed reading, classical music and travel; was an avid photographer; and loved spending time with her great friends. She is survived by her three grandchildren: Rachel, Joshua and Aaron and her great-granddaughter Maya. A viewing is planned in New York for close friends, and her life will be celebrated at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Stonybrook. Barbara will then fly to Indiana for interment with her parents. Graveside services will be held at the Linden Cemetery in Linden, IN Friday Nov 15th at 2:00 PM.
