Arlene Livingston

October 1, 1936 — February 13, 2022

Lafayette, IN

Arlene Joan (Greene) Livingston was born on October 1, 1936. She was the eighth out of ten children born to John and Catherine Greene in Staten Island, New York. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed peacefully at home on February 13, 2022, at the age of 85 after a full and meaningful life. Arlene lived in New York with her family until they relocated to Lafayette, Indiana in 1948. After graduating from Jefferson High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Lee Livingston on January 9, 1958, and they then relocated to Melbourne, Florida. The couple raised four children together: John, Catherine, Anne, and Amy. The family moved back to Lafayette, Indiana in 1970, where they raised their family. Arlene lived a long and full life and touched many people through her community and advocacy work. Arlene worked at Meals on Wheels from 1977, where she brightened the lives of many people in her community through providing food and company to seniors, until she retired in 1998. Arlene spent much of her time selflessly volunteering during her life. Arlene was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, The Rosary Alter Society and a strong advocate for the Tippecanoe County Right To Life. She was also a Girl Scout leader, room mother, and volunteered for the St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. Above anything else, Arlene was a caregiver, and always put her family first. She spent her life selflessly taking care of her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, Arlene served as a symbol of love and strength in her community and family. Arlene loved to read and write, and she was always giving her loved ones book recommendations and suggestions on what they should read. Her love and kindness will be carried on by her family and those she touched through her service in her community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin. She is survived by her son John Marvin (Lynn) of Brookston, IN; daughter Catherine Sorenson of Lafayette, IN; daughter Anne Marie Livingston of Lafayette, IN; daughter Amy Lee (Daniel) Jeng; two brothers Donald (Carol) Greene and Robert Greene; twin sister Anita Baronowsky; 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren (with one more on the way). The Rosary will be recited at 9:45 AM, with visitation following until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Friday February 18 at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette, Fr. Dennis Faker officiating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.
