Travis Davison

Travis Davison, age 58, of West Lafayette, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
Playing trombone, conducting and singing were Trav's favorite lifelong pleasures and he actively shared these with others. In his youth, he spent ten summers in the redwoods of Northern California at Cazadero Music Camp and always claimed it as the most influential period of his life.
Travis was born in Oakland, CA to Elton E. and Joyce Richardson Davison on July 23, 1949. He attended UC-Berkeley and then graduated from Cal State - Hayward with a bachelor's degree in music. He first taught music in Melbourne, Australia. Trav later obtained an MBA from St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA and enjoyed a 20 year banking career in the San Francisco Bay area. He finished his work life teaching music at Piedmont Unified School District, Piedmont, CA. He was also a member of the Air National Guard Band from 1968 - 1974.
Trav often gave his time and talents to groups including Oakland East Bay Symphony (Past President - Board of Directors), Cazadero Performing Arts Camp (Past PresidentBoard of Directors), various Rotary Clubs and frequently played with the Cherry Lane Dudes. He was an active advocate for education & research funding via the Alzheimer's Association. Memberships also included The Family, San Francisco and the Unitarian Universalist Church, Lafayette, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Suzan Windnagel, by Sherrill Davison (San Diego, CA) and Kathleen Davison (New York, NY) his daughters with first wife Thea Merrick (Berkeley, CA) and his brother, Peter Davison (wife: Leslie) of Rock Hill, SC. His family also includes sister-in-law Sally Ashlock (husband: Terry) West Lafayette, brothers-in-law Ned Windnagel (wife: Jayne) Lake Elmo, MN, Jeff Windnagel (Pine Village, IN) and Mark Windnagel (wife: Kim), Strongsville, OH and nieces and nephews: Grace, Kelly & Allison Hampton (West Lafayette), Kasey, Adam & Kate Windnagel (Strongsville, OH) and Elizabeth, Sam, Rose & Gabe Windnagel (Lake Elmo, MN)
A luncheon and celebration of Travis' life will be held Monday, June 9th from 11 :30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - with memorial service at 12:30 p.m. - at Rush Pavilion at Columbian Park.
