Shane Jones

Shane Kean Jones, 77, of Fowler and formerly of Pine Village, IN passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette Saturday January 13, 2017 at 12:05 PM where he had been a patient since Thursday. He was born in Pine Village, IN June 24, 1940, the son of the late Herman Lee and Josephine Irene Pierce Jones. Mr. Jones was a 1960 graduate of Pine Village High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1966, along with his Master’s Degree in Education in 1968, both from Arkansas State Teachers College. His marriage was to Cecilia A. Moix at Hot Springs, AR December 29, 1972, and she survives. Mr. Jones taught fifth and sixth grades at South Newton School Corporation from 1966 until 1982, and later worked at the Purdue Union Building, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler and a former member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oxford. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Sheri L. Dunham (Aaron) of Lafayette, IN; three sons, Scott A. Jones of Little Rock, AR; Brandon K. Jones of Pine Village, IN and Ryan J. Jones (Nichole) of Denver, CO; one brother, Shannon Jones of Walton, IN and three sisters, Joyce Wiltbank of Florida; Mary Lee Hamilton of Lafayette, IN and Sheila McCloskey of Davidsonville, MD. Also surviving are four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Friends may call at St. Patrick’s Church in Oxford from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday January 18, Fr. Robert Klemme and Fr. Peter Vanderkolk officiating, with interment to follow in Oxford Catholic Cemetery.
