Ruthann Wolfe

November 13, 1928 — April 8, 2018

Ruthann (Cooley) Wolfe, 89, passed away peacefully at Cumberland Point Health Campus in West Lafayette, IN on Sunday April 8, 2018. Born November 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Marie (Donahue) Cooley. She lived on a farm with her parents and 10 siblings. She went to grade school at St. Mary’s, Dunnington, IN and graduated in 1946 at Freeland Park High School in Freeland Park, IN. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Kankakee, IL as a Registered Nurse. She married John T. Wolanski in 1952 at West St. Paul, MN and obtained a civil divorce in 1959. He died in 1974. She married Harvey C. Wolfe on October 24, 1974 at St. Patrick’s Church in Oxford, IN. After she retired in 1990, her husband Harvey built a green house and later added a flower shop which they operated for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church of Oxford, IN and sang in the choir. She was a member of the National Catholic Nurses Association, National Catholic Society of Foresters, a past member of VFW Auxiliary and Calico Square Dancing Club. Besides her love of nursing, she enjoyed dancing, swimming, bowling fishing and playing cards. Surviving is her daughter, Deborah (Bruce) Sheets of Lafayette, IN; step-daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Meyer of West Lafayette, IN; son-in-law Glen Jones of West Lafayette, IN; Sisters, Rita Lundgren of Salt Lake City, Utah; Jan (Carol) Flora of Delphi, IN; Grandchildren Brett (Candis) Underhill of Miami, FL; Nathan (Ginnie) Sheets; Austin (Laynah) Sheets; Gentry (Carly) Sheets, all of Lafayette, IN; Step-Granddaughter Michelle (Brandon) Strohl of West Lafayette, IN; Great-grandchildren, Graycin Jean and Colton Underhill; Maclin, Callan, and Landry Sheets; Marrissa, Hannah, Reina, Bennett, Selah Abram, Grady, Lydia and Clark Sheets; James, Audrey and Ian Sheets; Step-grandchildren John Strohl, Dylan and Hunter Pezet and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey C. Wolfe; daughter Barbara Jean Jones; brothers Norbert, Bernard, Kenneth, David and Paul Cooley; sisters Aletha Reifel, Helen Budreau, Rosemary Budreau, two infants and grandson Caleb Sheets. She was a hard working devoted mother who gave her all into everyone she loved and everything she did. Visitation will be at St. Patrick’s Church, Oxford, IN from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Thursday April 12, Fr. Robert Klemme officiating. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Kentland, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society in remembrance of daughter Barbara Jones or Mental Health of America Lafayette, IN. in remembrance of Caleb Sheets.
