Ruth Williams

Ruth G. Williams, 91, of Darlington, IN. and formerly of Linden, IN. died in Tempe, Arizona February 27, 2009 at the residence of her daughter, Maria J. Wood, whom she was visiting. Born in Lawrence County, Indiana April 8, 1917, the daughter of the late Elmer and Maria Hill Thomas, she was a graduate of Tunnelton High School. On March 28, 1927, she married Leland W. Williams in Lawrenceport, IN. and he preceded her in death 1996. Mrs. Williams had worked at North Montgomery High School, where she had been a cook. She was a member of the Linden United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are 3 sons, Dwight Williams of Congress, AZ.; Walter Williams (wife Dianne) of Monticello, IN.; James Williams (wife Sherry) of Port Charlotte, FL.; and 2 daughters, Lou Ellen Chapman (husband Richard) of Darlington, IN.; and Maria J. Wood of Tempe, AZ. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 7 great -grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter, Aneta. Friends may call at the Linden United Methodist Church from 3 until 6 PM Sunday, with the Order of Eastern Star Service at 5:45 PM Sunday. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service 10:30 AM Monday at the church, Rev. LaMont Bonath officiating. Interment Linden Cemetery.
