Russell Griswold, Sr

Russell Patrick "Pat" Griswold, Sr., 78, of Lafayette, died at his residence 6:20 PM Wednesday May 8, 2013. He was born in Lafayette, IN. March 28, 1935, the son of the late James and Eva Wilson Griswold, and attended Lafayette Schools.
Pat married Carolyn G. Corbin in Lafayette January 31, 1958, and she survives.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from the Lafayette Fire Department in 1998 with the rank of sergeant after serving 31 years. Pat worked for the Lafayette Traffic Improvement Department 20 years, and had also worked at Green Acres Apartments for 10 years.
He attended Dayton United Methodist Church, and was a member of the American Legion Post 11 of Lafayette, the 40 & 8, Voiture 364 and a member of the IAFF (International Association of Firefighters) Local 472 of Lafayette. Pat enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Vicci Steele (husband Dennis) of Lafayette; Janet Menasian (husband Eric) of Taylor, South Carolina; three sons, Garry Griswold; Russell P. "Pat" Griswold, Jr. (wife Natalie) and Dan Griswold (wife Stephanie) all of Lafayette; two brothers, Dallas Griswold, Sr. (wife Sondra) and John L. Griswold (wife Dorothy) all of Lafayette; and a sister, Shirley Wooten of Lafayette. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Eric Griswold, a sister, Betty Zucaro and by two brothers, Leonard Lovejoy and James Griswold.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home from 5 until 8 PM Monday, with the Fireman's Last Alarm Service at 7:00 PM. The funeral will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home, Pastor Earl Owen officiating. Interment will be held at Sand Ridge Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 11.
