Roy Douglas "Doug" Stevenson, 64, of Fowler, IN. and formerly of Jasonville, IN. died at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital Emergency Room in Lafayette, IN. 1:21 PM Sunday February 16, 2014. Doug was born in Linton, IN. November 26, 1949, the son of Donna Joan Miller Stevenson Butts and the late Robert Lee Stevenson. He was a graduate of Shakamak High School in Jasonville, IN. and served in the U. S. Army from 1969 until 1971 during the Viet Nam War. Doug married Kreta J. Mesaeh in Benton County, IN. September 12, 2003 and she survives. He retired from the CSX Railroad, formerly the Monon and Milwaukee railroads after 45 years, working first as a clerk and later as a yard master. Doug was a member of the Friendly Grove Baptist Church in Jasonville, IN and the American Legion Post 57 in Fowler, IN. Surviving with his wife is mother, Donna Joan Butts of Sebring, FL.; a step-daughter, Lindsay Spurgeon (husband Cory) of Lafayette, IN.; two step-sons, Jeremy Staley (wife Samantha) of Crawfordsville, IN. and Matthew Mesaeh (wife Lauri) of Simpsonville, S.C.; a brother, John Stevenson (wife Torey) of Jasonville, IN. and a sister Terri Scott (husband Bob) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Shaden Lathrop, Adriana Spurgeon, Keira Mesaeh, Kylie Mesaeh, Piper Staley; and several nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Cory Stevenson and his father, Robert Lee Stevenson. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 4 PM until the funeral service at 7:00 PM Wednesday, Pastor William Mesaeh officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, Friendly Grove Cemetery, Jasonville, IN. with military rites by the Jasonville American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Riley Childrens Foundation in Indianapolis or the charity of the donor's choice.
