Robert Lemond

Robert H. "Bob" Lemond, 67, of Lafayette, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Central after a lengthy battle with Frontaltemporal Dementia and lung cancer. Bob was born on June 26, 1945 in Long Beach, California to the late William Henry and Frances Elizabeth (Thoennes) Lemond. He was a 1963 graduate of Jefferson High School. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1967. He worked on the railroad and retired from the U.S Postal service in 2006. Bob was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion. One of Bob's last wishes was to donate his brain to Indiana University Alzheimer Disease Center to further the research of Frontaltemporal disorders.
Bob was married to Helen P. Barker on February 17, 1973 until her death on July 31, 1994. He married Barbara "Bobbie" Burgess Clevenger on September 27, 1996 and she survives.
Surviving also are brothers, Edward (Elaine) of Dieppe N.B. Canada, Michael (Linda) of Portage, IN, James (Debbie) of Indianapolis, IN, John (Marsha) of Charlotte, NC, a sister, Judy of St. Louis, MO, a sister-in-law, Marti of Loveland, OH and cousin Richard Thoennes of Lafayette, in addition to several step-children including Shari (Gary) Overdorf of Brookston, Brenda (Mike) Frey-McCaw of West Lafayette and Chad (Mary) Clevenger of Lafayette, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St. from 4 until 6 PM Sunday, with the Rosary service at 3:45 PM Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Monday, St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fr. David Buckles officiating. Interment at Rest Haven Memorial Park with American Legion Post 11 graveside rites.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
