Richard Krekeler

October 28, 1945 — June 7, 2013

Richard Michael Krekeler, 67, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth Central Emergency Room at 7:00 AM Friday June 7, 2013. Richard was born in Cincinnati, OH. October 28, 1945, the son of the late Charles and Virginia Hannah Krekeler. He was a graduate of Bethel Tate High School in Bethel, OH. and received his degree in theology. Richard had worked for the former Tennet Hospital in Crawfordsville as director of environmental services until his health forced his retirement in 1998. He was previously employed at ALCOA. Richard married Linda G. Gajda at Chicago, IL. October 15, 1967, and she survives. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, watching the Cincinnati Reds, and had played for the Cincinnati Reds organization in the minor leagues and also enjoyed fishing. Richard served in the US Army from 1963 until 1966.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Patrick Krekeler (wife Carrie) of Lafayette, IN.; Michael L. Krekeler (wife Tonya) of Zionsville, IN.; a daughter, Corey Hildebrand (husband Troy) of Atlanta, GA.; and a brother Robert Krekeler (wife Janice) of Bethel, OH. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Lita Hildebrand, that was more like a daughter; Andrew Hildebrand; Cameron, Colin and Ian Krekeler, and by 2 great-grandchildren Oliva and Emma Hildebrand. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., from 11 AM until the service at 1:00 PM Wednesday, with inurnment to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park with American Legion Post 11 graveside rites.
