Richard W. "Rick" Chester, 63, of Lafayette, died Tuesday July 21, 2015 at 8:47 PM in IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette following an accident at his home. Rick was born in Lafayette January 31, 1952 the son of Constance Ann Van Hook Chester and the late Kenneth R. Chester. He was a graduate of Wainwright High School and attended Purdue University and also college in Arizona. He married Jacqueline E. "Jackie" Kerr in Lafayette September 3, 1984, and she survives. Rick was a tool designer for AMG in Indianapolis and had formerly been employed by Kirby Risk Machine in Lafayette. He was a World War II historian, loved to work on his cars and was an amateur inventor. Rick liked to travel and hike in Arizona and loved his cats. Surviving with his wife is his mother, Constance Ann Chester of Lafayette; a daughter Kari Ann of Lafayette; a brother, Michael L. Chester of San Diego, CA; a grandson, Michael; a niece, Katherine Chester, and a nephew Keith Chester. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth R. Chester March 25, 2010. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 4 until 7 PM Friday. Funeral services will be held at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday.
