Ralph Rockwell

Ralph E. Rockwell, 89, of Oxford, IN died at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport Friday April 24, 2015. He had been a patient at Williamsport Nursing and Rehab Center since December 22, 2014. Ralph was born in Fair Oaks, IN May 23, 1925, the son of the late Ernest and Marion Meader Rockwell, and was a graduate of Fair Oaks High School in 1943. He married his wife of 67 years, Mary Meyers November 23, 1947, and she survives. Ralph was a life-long farmer and later sold Prairie Farmer Insurance and was employed by Electrolux Sales and Service of Lafayette. He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and the Indiana Farm Bureau. Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Linda Smock (Don) of Terre Haute, IN, Joyce Stembel (John) of West Lebanon, IN and Barbara Hancock (Robert) of Pine Bush, NY; a son, Robert Rockwell (Sandy) of Lafayette; a sister, Mary Lou Nagel (Edwin) of Rensselaer, IN; five grandchildren, Aaron Schofield, Katherine Purple, Robert Hancock III, Matthew Hancock and Megan DeYoung; and by 4 great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Jackson Hancock, Evelyn Hancock and Grayson DeYoung. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Calvert Schofield, a brother, Neal Rockwell and a sister Doris Cummings. Friends may call at the Oxford United Methodist Church from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM Thursday, Pastor Linda Sproull officiating. A private family interment service will be held at a later date. Friends may best express sympathy with memorials to the Oxford United Methodist Church.
