Since the purpose of an obituary is to provide information about a deceased person, it seems sensible for the person himself to compose it during his life. This should also prevent the confusion between the public and private spheres of a person’s life that has come to mark obituaries of late and which is manifested by the inclusion of such matters as the hobbies or pets of the deceased. So this is my draft for my own obituary, which I composed in January of 2016.
