Patricia Dale Johnson, 63, of Lafayette, and formerly of Crawfordsville, IN. died at Westminster Village Healthcare Center, West Lafayette, IN. 2:10 AM Monday January 5, 2009. She had been a patient there since July 2008, following her diagnosis with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in March 2008. Born October 29, 1945 in Inglewood, California, the daughter of the late Dale and Zoe Kinney Abbott, she was a graduate of Sand Point Idaho High School and attended the University of Idaho at Moscow, Idaho. Her marriage was to Robert H. Johnson, former Track and Cross Country Coach at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN., and they later divorced. Mrs. Johnson had worked as an x-ray technician and mamographer for the Sisters of St. Francis Healthcare system, and was a member of Harvest Chapel Church in Lafayette. Surviving are 2 daughters, Jenaffer A. Beasley (husband Mark) of Lafayette; Rebecca R. Johnson of Los Angeles, CA.; a son, Brian K. Johnson (wife Aundrea M. ) of Aurora, IL.; a brother Gary Abbott (wife Bonnie) of Thompson Falls, MT.; and 2 half sisters, Laurie Mitzalis of Athens, Greece and Taryn Pettit of Missoula, MT. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, Jalen K. and Julian R. Johnson of Aurora, IL. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday at the Harvest Chapel Church, 1019 Wabash Ave., Lafayette. A memorial service will be held at Harvest Chapel 3:30 PM Saturday, Pastor Walt Hartwich officiating. Friends may best express sympathy with memorials to Harvest Chapel for the purpose of community outreach.
