Patricia Ann McKee

February 7, 1950 — April 10, 2024

Lafayette, IN

Patricia “Patti” McKee, passed away on April 10, 2024 with her family lovingly by her side.  She was a dedicated healthcare professional who courageously fought a form of non-smoker lung cancer.

Patti was born in 1950 to the late Clarence Kenneth “Kenny” and Doris Taylor Lowry in Scottsburg, Indiana.  She is survived by her siblings Jerry Lowry and Penny Burgess (Roger Miller), her daughter Bobbe Molter, many nieces, nephews, and very close friends.  She was preceded in death by siblings Dixie Jo and Rodney Lowry and son James “Jim” McKee.

Patti will be fondly remembered for her optimism, flair, and unwavering commitment to health and nutrition.   She graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree as a certified medical assistant and went on to work at Arnett Clinic, Lafayette Family Medicine, and IU Health Arnett.  However, her most cherished role was working for the last 11 years with and under the late Dr. Sarah Hallberg at IU Health Arnett's Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program.  There, she passionately assisted patients in improving their health through education on exercise, diet, and the ketogenic lifestyle particularly focusing on those with Type 2 diabetes.

In addition to her career in healthcare, Patti was a licensed cosmetologist who worked alongside her mother in Battle Ground at Doris’ Beauty Shop for many years before owning and operating Capri Styling Salon in Lafayette.  She was also a certified personal trainer, horse owner (“Goldie”), musician and songwriter.  She was a devoted niece and spent the last few years taking her 95-year-old Uncle Ernie to music nights where they sang and played the ukelele with others.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Southern Care Hospice and especially Nurse Kayla who helped guide us to make her last days comfortable.

Patti was a member of The Gathering where a Celebration of Life will be held this month.   In lieu of flowers, Patti requested donations be made to Dr. Thomas Siefred and The Foundation for Metabolic Cancer Therapies and/or Almost Home Humane Society.

Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home of Lafayette is caring for the McKee family. Memories and condolences may be left at hahngroeberfuneralhome.com
