Olivia Reed

Olivia N. Reed, age 91, of Lafayette and formerly of Indianapolis, died at the residence of Jeffrey and Missy Benham, her great-nephew and niece, 4:35 P.M. Wednesday September 3, 2008. Mrs. Reed had lived in Indianapolis most of her life, returning to Lafayette in February of 2006. Born in Lafayette July 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Henry and Omah Andrews Newton, she was a graduate of the John Huntington Polytechnic High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She married John W. Reed in Indianapolis May 22, 1954, and he preceded her in death February 18, 2006. Mrs. Reed had worked as an operator and service administrator for Indiana Bell Telephone 32 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member and past president of the Cumberland Business and Professional Women; a member of the Telephone Pioneers; a member of the Council for International Visitors; the Knights of Columbus Auxillary and a member of St. Vincent Hospice. While residing in Indianapolis, she was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and after moving to Lafayette, became a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St. one hour prior to the service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Father Dan Duff officiating. Interment Greenbush Cemetery. Also surviving are 4 great- nephews, Scot and Kent Benham of Lafayette; Brad Benham (wife Melanie) Raleigh, NC.; Mike Benham (wife Shirley) West Lafayette; a great-niece Dona Benham of West Lafayette.
