Norman Deboy

February 14, 1933 — February 25, 2018

Norman Grover DeBoy, 85, of Lafayette, passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette 2:55 PM Sunday February 25, 2018. He was born in Brookston, White County Indiana February 14, 1933, the son of the late Grover and Katharine Habben DeBoy and was a 1951 graduate of Battle Ground High School. Norman married Rita Ann Kremer in Lafayette March 19, 1955, and she survives. His hobbies included gardening, especially raising roses; race ponies; mushroom hunting; visiting with friends, particularly enjoying breakfast; and liked to watch the farm seasons change from planting to harvest. Norman enjoyed watching Central Catholic Football, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren, doing his best to wear them out. Norm was known for his enjoyment of fine cuisine, as long as it was fried catfish. He retired from ALCOA and was a member of their 25 year club. Norm was a member of American Legion Post 492, the Eagles, and served his country from April 1954 until April 1956. He never retired from farming, and although in his later years he did not till the land, his life ebbed and flowed to the presence of equipment in the corn fields and of making the land ready for crops. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Brenda, (husband Jim) Reifenrath of Lafayette; two sons, Michael (wife Peggy) DeBoy of Noblesville, IN; Thomas DeBoy of Lafayette; a sister, Lucille Koenig of Cocoa Beach, FL; and by four grandchildren, Mitch Reifenrath of Chicago; Hali Aldridge (husband Jason of Chicago; Kate Sneider (husband Tommaso of St. Paul, MN and Jack Reifenrath of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Durflinger; four brothers and a sister. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 3 until 6 PM Sunday March 4.
