Naomi E. CasaSanta, 89, of Lafayette, died Thursday March 12, 2015. Naomi was born in Mishawauka, IN May 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Ernest Patrick and Margaret Statica Stoops. She was a graduate of the St. Joseph Academy at South Bend, IN and attended Indiana University. Naomi married Joseph J. CasaSanta, Jr. at the Log Chapel at Notre Dame March 19, 1949 and he preceded her in death October 1988. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette and had been employed for the American Red Cross for 28 years, retiring in 1990 as assistant director, primarily serving in aid to military families. Naomi served as a volunteer for Care Giver Companion and St. Elizabeth Hospice and was a member of the Randolph Home Extension Club and the Greater Beneficial Union. She enjoyed supporting Notre Dame sports and activities, as well as Purdue, Indiana University and local athletics. Surviving are three daughters, Kathryn Adams of Fairburn, GA; Susan Bresnahan (husband Don) of Melbourne, FL; Patricia A. CasaSanta of Lafayette, IN; four sons, Christopher CasaSanta (wife Patricia) of Goodlettsville, TN; Daniel CasaSanta (wife Linda) of Rochester Hills, MI; John CasaSanta (wife Marion) of Charlotte, NC; and Joseph CasaSanta (wife Janelle) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving is a brother, Florn "Wedge" Rafferty (wife Marietta) of Rensselear, IN; a sister Ardith Eby of Osceola, IN and by 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, "Murph" Rafferty. Friends may call at St. Mary Cathedral from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM Tuesday, Fr. Jeff Martin officiating, with the interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery. The family requests memorials to either Care Giver Companion St. Mary Cathedral.
