Mary Robb

Mary J. Robb, 85, of Lafayette and formerly of Crystal Lake, IL passed away at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette 7:00 PM Tuesday Nov. 28, 2017. Mary was born in Prairie Green Township, Iroquois County, IL May 15, 1932, the daughter of the late Theodore and Anne Elizabeth Becker Scherer. She was a 1950 graduate of St. Francis High School and a 1955 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, both in Lafayette. Mary was a retired registered neurology nurse, having been employed at Hines Hospital, Maywood, IL; McHenry Hospital, McHenry, IL and last with Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL where she worked for 28 years before retiring in 1997. She married Kenneth A. Robb at Divine Infant Church in Westchester, IL August 13, 1960 and he preceded her in death in 1992. Mary was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette. Surviving is a sister, Carol Allen (Barry) of Lafayette; three brothers, Daniel E. Scherer of Lafayette, IN; Bernard Scherer of Dayton, IN; and G. Patrick Scherer (Deborah) of Fowler, IN. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Richard Scherer and by two sisters, Rita Haynes and Marjorie Winsted. Friends may call at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Tuesday Dec. 5 from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. A private interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery at Crystal Lake, IL at a later date. Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Almost Home Humane Society.
