Mary Ellen Handy, 81 of Fowler, IN. died at her residence 9:00 PM Tuesday March 22, 2011. Mrs. Handy was born in Danville, IL. November 4, 1929, the daughter of the late Samuel and Edna Snyder Jessup, and was a graduate of Center Township High School in Fowler. She married James A. Handy at Fowler, IN. November 17, 1957, and he survives. Mrs. Handy had worked at Denny's Pharmacy as a bookkeeper, and was a member of the Fowler Presbyterian Church and a past-president of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 57. Surviving beside her husband are 3 daughters, Janet Hare (husband Mark) of Earl Park, IN.; Julie Jenkins (husband Terry) of Delphi, IN.; Jill Handy of Fowler, IN.; and by 1 son, James Handy of Phoenix, Arizona. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Butler and a sister Helen Marie Jessup. Friends may call at the Fowler Presbyterian Church from 10 AM until the service at Noon Monday, Rev. Ann Smith Williams officiating.
