Martin Padgett

Martin L. "Marty" Padgett, 78, of Romney, IN. went to be with the Lord on Monday April 22, 2013. He was born April 23, 1934 in Sullivan, IN. to the late Herschel and Gwinn Padgett, one of ten children.
He came to Tippecanoe County in 1945 and attended school at Clarks Hill. In 1954 he graduated from Linden High School.
Martin worked for farmers, and at National Homes, becoming a foreman. He drove a gas tanker for Spyker Oil, and worked at Lilly's becoming a supervisor and retiring in 1992. Martin loved carpentry, and was an avid Boilermaker fan. He was a member of the Linden Baptist Church and had served as a deacon.
He married Gloria Ruth Whitlow on September 22, 1951, and she survives. Surviving along with his wife are his three sons, Steven (wife Dianna) Padgett of New Richmond, IN.; Gary Padgett of Lafayette, IN.; Dale Padgett of Romney, IN., and a sister Louise (husband Tom) Vanderkolk of Brookston, IN. along with ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Ruth, Ruby, Melba, Orajean, Russ, Bob, Fern and Eva.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Linden from 5 until 8 PM Thursday. Funeral service 10:30 AM Friday at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Linden, Rev. Dr. R. Clayton Kendall officiating, with interment to follow in Linden Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital or Riley Childrens Hospital in Indianapolis.
