Marjorie Gick

Marjorie Joanne (Spitznagle) Gick, age 84, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at 12:35 AM Saturday, June 10, 2017, at St. Mary's Healthcare Center . Born on March 7, 1933 in Lafayette. She was the daughter of the late Edward Spitznagle and Katherine Fassnacht. She married Marvin Gick, who survives, on April 30, 1960 at St. Boniface in Lafayette. She was a graduate of Monitor High School and a 1954 graduate of St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She was a nurse for Arnett Clinic, Greenhill Nursing Manor, and the Otterbein Medical Office. Marge was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She lived her life caring for others. The first 35 years of marriage was enjoyed on the family farm in Fowler. An additional 22 joyful years of retirement was spent in West Lafayette. She loved being with her grandkids, cooking, gardening, being outside, playing euchre, and helping family and friends. A devout Catholic, her faith was strong and her prayers effective. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler. She joined St. Lawrence Catholic Church after moving to West Lafayette. Surviving are 4 children: Janet Conrad of Lafayette, Ronald Gick (wife Stephanie) of Fowler, Donna Spikes of West Lafayette, and Dale Gick (wife Erin) of Whiteland. Also surviving are ten grandchildren. Also surviving are 4 sisters: Ann Rettig of W. Lafayette, Katherine Biltz, Pat Smith, and Shirl Klinker (husband Jerome) all of Lafayette. 1 brother: Earl Spitznagle of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers; her twin Merlin R. Spitznagle, Leonard E., Bernard F., William V., Daniel A. and Francis C. Spitznagle and 4 sisters; Dorothy L. Spitznagle, Gertrude E. Buckles, Arlene Spitznagle, and Mary M. Cochran. A Rosary Service will be held at 3:45 PM prior to the visitation from 4 - 7 PM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home (1104 Columbia St, Lafayette, IN 47901). A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 15, 2017 at St. Lawrence Church (1916 Meharry Street Lafayette, IN 47904), with Father Eric Underwood officiating. The interment will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery (465 West Division Road, Fowler, IN 47944) 2:00 PM Thursday June 15.
