Marie Brown

Marie M. Brown, age 82, of rural Fowler, IN. died at her residence Saturday November 14, 2015. She was born June 26, 1933 in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Howard E. and Treva Moore Inglehart. Mrs. Brown was educated in the Grimsby Ontario school system and attended Michigan State University. She married Russell K. Brown on March 10, 1956 in Grimsby and he preceded her in death on August 17, 2009. She and her husband lived in New York State and Michigan before moving to Indiana. He was with the grounds department at Purdue University, retiring as superintendent. Mrs. Brown helped her family farm and raise hogs in Tippecanoe County and was active in her son's school activities and parent groups, Pork Producers, and Farm Bureau as a township women's leader. When her husband retired, the family moved to Benton County where they farmed and also raised nursery stock and operated greenhouses. She continued her involvement with Farm Bureau, serving as Benton County women's leader for nine years. Following her husband's death, she helped her son farm and develop a recirculating shrimp operation. Mrs. Brown was of the Protestant faith. Her hobby was making stuffed animals and Raggedy Ann dolls and enjoyed participating in craft shows. Surviving are two sons, Michael L. Brown (wife Robin) of Oxford, IN; Darryl W. Brown (wife Karlanea) of Fowler, IN; her grandchildren, Colton, Audra, Lydia and Levi. Also surviving are four cousins in Ontario, Canada. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford, IN from 5 until 8 PM Wednesday Nov. 18. Private services and entombment will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum in West Lafayette.
