Margaret Staley

Margaret L. Staley, 94, of Lafayette, IN passed away at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette 12:46 AM Thursday Sept. 7, 2017. She was born in Marshall, IN April 5, 1923, the daughter of the late William Earl and Martha Hershberger Myers and attended Marshall and Montezuma Schools in Parke County, IN. and later received her GED from Lafayette Jefferson High School. Margaret married John F. “Jack” Staley on August 5, 1942 at St. Boniface Church in Lafayette, and he preceded her in death February 3, 2012. Margaret worked in sales and later at Terry Courts Residence Hall at Purdue where she began in the kitchen service and later was moved into the office, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church; a member of American Legion Post 11 Auxiliary; a life member of the Purple Heart Club Auxiliary and enjoyed watching the wildlife in her yard. Margaret is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Bill) Geier of Monticello, IN and a son, Gregory (Margie) Staley of Lafayette. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Tim, Sara, Rachel, Melissa, Elizabeth and Andrew, along with five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Finney and by two brothers, Billy and Carl Myers. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewalk Village for all of the care given to their mother and grandmother. In her honor, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness or charity to someone in need. Friends may call at St. Boniface Church, at the corner of 9th and North Streets in Lafayette from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM Tuesday Sept. 12, Fr.
