Margaret Homburg

Margaret Elizabeth Stafford Lucas Homburg, 96, of Linden and formerly of Lebanon, IN. and Lakeland, Florida, died at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. 2:20 AM Wednesday October 13, 2010. She was born March 5, 1914 in Dover, Boone County, IN. the daughter of Frank W. and Velva Pyles Stafford. Mrs. Homburg was a 1932 graduate of Dover, IN. High School and also a graduate of the National Beauty Academy in Indianapolis. While she lived in Lebanon, she had worked for the Farm Bureau Co-op, Morris Plan, and as an administrative secretary at Witham Memorial Hospital. She later worked as an administrative secretary in the Purdue University School of Nursing. She first married Howard Benjamin "Hap" Lucas October, 1934, and he died January 1963. She then married Robert E. Homburg May 31, 1968, and he survives. Mrs. Homburg was a member of Linden United Methodist Church; the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; the Elks Ladies Auxiliary; Tri Kappa Sorority of Linden and Crawfordsville; Center Stage Community Theatre in Lebanon; was a former Girl Scout Leader; a member of the Shamrock Club; the Good Times Bridge Club; and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Karen Lucas Galvin of Lebanon; 2 grandchildren, Roxanne E. (Galvin) McPheron and Matthew Randolph Galvin (wife Dawn); 2 step-grandsons, Damon R. and Collin G. Steer; 6 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Natasha & Chelsea McPheron; Jesse M., Emma Louise & Wyatt Galvin; and 1 step-great-grandson, Devon French. She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Linda Collins; 2 sisters, Mary Janet Clifton & Madge Taylor; and by 2 brothers, William & Edward "C.E." Stafford. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Linden, IN. from 5 until 7 PM Friday. Funeral services at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday, Rev. Dr. LaMont Bonath officiating. Graveside services 12 noon Saturday, Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon. If Friends desire, memorials may be made to the Linden United Methodist Church.
