Lillian M. Payne (Nee) Osenga
Lillian Marie, born September 26, 1928, passed from this life into eternity September 15, 2015. Gone are the cares and trials of this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Kossuth Street Baptist Church.
"Lil" was born on the grounds of Statesville Penitentiary, Joliet, Illinois, where her Father was supervisor of the gardening, farming operations at the prison. She received all of her education in Lake County, IN where she resided most of her life. She was a thirty-five year employee of Inland Steel Company, where she met her husband Lou, both retiring from the company in 1982. Lou passed away March 7, 1985.
Lil moved to West Lafayette, IN in 1991, making her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Don Marshall. She worked at Smitty's Foodliner in West Lafayette for ten years as a cashier until the closing of the store. There she met many wonderful people enjoying everyone with conversation, making lasting relationships.
Lil loved her Family; she was extremely dedicated to them. She enjoyed singing and playing the keyboard and piano.
Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Don and Carol Marshall of West Lafayette, nephew and niece, Terry and Sherri Ruley, and great nephew, Dane Ruley, Lafayette, nephew and niece, Gene and Toni Radio of Georgetown, TX, great niece and nephew Elizabeth and Marc Keller and great-great niece Alexandra, Alexandria, VA., and great niece and nephew Mark and Christine Radio and great-great nieces Sarah and Emily and great-great nephew Ethan Radio, all of Dover, DE, nephew and niece, Derek and Karen Marshall of Buda, TX and a niece, Christina Contreras of Cedar Creek, TX.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Louis W. Payne, her parents, John and Mary Osenga, her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and John Radio and a niece Deanna Dawn Ruley.
Per Lillian's request there will be no visitation. A private family service will take place on Saturday September 19, 2015 at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Pastor Paul Briggs officiating. At Rest, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN
Memorial contributions may be made in Lillian's name to Kossuth Street Baptist Church, 2901 Kossuth Street, Lafayette, IN 47904
