Kenneth Skoog

Kenneth R. Skoog, 65, of Oxford, IN. died at his residence 2:00 PM Tuesday December 21, 2010, having been ill with cancer since May, 2010. Mr. Skoog was born in Pine Township, Benton County, Indiana April 6, 1945, the son of the late John and Jesse Mae Brooks Skoog. He was a graduate of Otterbein High School, and had worked for Richard B. Cross Printing from 1964 until 1977, and from 1977 until retiring in 2009, he worked at Tate & Lyle (formerly A.E. Staley) as maintenance manager. Mr. Skoog married Sara B. Lechner at Oxford, IN. November 28, 1964, and she survives. He was a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years, the Dan Patch Conservation Club, and the Oak Grove Country Club for over 50 years. Mr. Skoog enjoyed playing golf and horse racing; was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan; and especially enjoyed his family and people. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Carmen Knowles (husband Steve) of Oxford, IN.; 2 sons, Doug Skoog (wife Kaye) of Fowler, IN. and Joel Skoog of Oxford, IN.; 2 brothers, Norman Skoog (wife Vandeane) of Boswell, IN. and John Skoog (wife Martha) of Oxford, IN.; and a sister, Arlene Ashlock (husband Jim) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Nathaniel Skoog of Fowler; Trista Pitts of Wellington, IL; Shaedyn Knowles and Macyn Knowles of Oxford; and Keegan Skoog of Oxford; and a great-grandson, Lucas Pitts of Wellington, IL. . He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Eunice Davis & Helen Dorsey; and a brother Robert Skoog. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford from 11:00AM until the service at 1:00 PM today,Thursday, Rev. Jacob H. Hoffman officiating, with interment to follow in Justus Cemetery.
