Joseph Anthony Krecek

Joseph Anthony Krecek, 56, passed away unexpectedly in his home on January 4, 2026, due to a heart attack. He was born on April 20, 1969, in Lafayette, to James Joseph Krecek and Mary Ann (Delez) Krecek. Joe graduated from St. Lawrence School and from Central Catholic High School, class of 1987. He attended Purdue University and graduated in 1991, earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology.

Joe held a variety of jobs until he was unable to continue due to mental illness. A special thank you to the staff of Valley Oaks Mental Health who cared for him for years.

Joe was interested in trains and model railroading. He enjoyed music, played the trumpet in high school and continued playing some piano.

He is survived by his loving father, Jim Krecek, his sister, Sister Jacinta Krecek, OSF, and many cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Krecek.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, January 10 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Central Catholic High School.
