John Staley

June 7, 1921 — February 3, 2012

John F. "Jack" Staley, 90, of Lafayette, died at his residence 4:00 PM Friday February 3, 2012.
Jack was born in Lafayette, IN. June 7, 1921, the son of the late John R. and Elizabeth Williams Staley, and was a 1939 graduate of West Lafayette High School, and attended Purdue University. He joined the US Army, and served in the European Theatre during World War II from 1942 until 1945, receiving the Purple Heart with clusters.
He married Margaret L. Myers at St. Boniface Catholic Church August 5, 1942, and she survives.
Jack worked at Haywood Printing 45 years as a pressman, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church; a charter member of the Purple Heart Club; a member of American Legion Post 11, and a life member of VFW Post 1154.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Marsha K. Geier (husband William) of Monticello, IN. and a son, Gregory L. Stanley (wife Marjorie) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 PM Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fr. Gustavo Lopez officiating. Intement in St. Boniface Cemetery with VFW 1154 Military rites. If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
