John Hay

John A. "Jack" Hay, 85, of Oxford, IN. died at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette 4:30 AM Wednesday January 23, 2013 where he had been a resident the past 2 years.
John was born in Shelbyville, IN. October 23, 1927, the son of the late Rollin and Edna Fell Hay. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1945 and Indiana University at Bloomington in 1951. He was a starting five member of the Oxford High School Basketball team that went to semi-state in 1945.
John married Dorothy E. "Dottie" Luschei at Oxford, IN. February 14, 1975 and she preceded him in death October 7, 2007.
He was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the Oxford Lions Club and a Past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge. John worked as manager of Henry's Hardware in Oxford for many years, and served in the US Army during World War II.
Surviving is a daughter, Debra Alexander of Avon, IN.; a brother, Dan Hay (wife Carol) of Rensselaer, IN.; four sisters, Gwen Ladd of Oxford, IN.; Nancy Cordes (husband Bud) of Lafayette, IN.; Barbara Sondgerath of Lafayette, IN.; Nycha Sesesac of Oxford, IN.; three grandchildren, Brooke Plummer (husband Chris), Jordan Mayfield and Bailey Alexander, all of Avon, IN.; and by four great-grandchildren, Kalii, Mylaa, Nolan and Haven. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughters, Adelyn Plummer; a brother Ronnie Hay and a sister, Rose Edmonds.
Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, Oxford from 10 AM until the service at 11 AM Monday, Rev. Linda Sproull officiating, with interment in Justus Cemetery with military graveside rites. If friends desire. memorials may be made to the Oxford United Methodist Church or the Oxford Lions Club.
