Janet Barnes

Janet M. "Peach" Barnes, 61, of Lafayette, died at Regency Place of Lafayette 1:25 AM Saturday May 30, 2009, where she had been a patient the past 3 weeks. Ms. Barnes had been in ill health the past 3 years with cancer. Born September 27, 1947 in Lafayette, the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Helen L. Dooley McBroom, she was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1965, and was a life -long Lafayette resident. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, and had worked at Purdue University 20 years in the food services department, retiring in 2007 due to her illness. Surviving is a sister, Mary Jo Dixon (husband Thomas) of Lafayette. Also surviving is a niece, Kristine Dixon Dalton and a nephew, Thomas M. Dixon; 1 great-niece, Madeline Dalton and 2 great-nephews, Preston Dixon and Sam Dalton. Friends may call at St. Mary's Cathedral one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
