Jane Conrad

Jane Elizabeth Conrad, 97, of Lafayette, passed away Saturday October 20, 2018 at Creasy Springs Health Campus where she had been a patient since July. Jane was born in Lafayette to Bernard and Ida Rose (Rooze) Crowe December 26, 1920 and was a 1938 graduate of St. Francis High School in Lafayette. Jane married John Thomas Conrad at St. Mary Cathedral in Lafayette October 20, 1942, and he preceded her in death March 3, 2003. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral for 91 years, a member of a religious study group and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society all at St. Mary Cathedral. Jane volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital; served as treasurer of the Central Catholic parent’s group in the 1960’s and was a former Farm Bureau Pet and Hobby Leader. Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Lockard of Lafayette; Mary Becker (Bob) of Williamsport, IN and Rita Dodsworth of Naperville, IL; by two sons, Thomas Conrad (Sue) of Greenwood, IN and Bernard Conrad (Carol) of Farmington Hills, MI. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a great-grandson, two sisters, Ruth Rausch and Eileen McGonigle. The Rosary will be recited at 3:45 PM, followed by visitation from 4 until 7 PM Sunday October 28 at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Cathedral 10:30 AM Monday Oct. 29, Fr. Dominic C. Petan officiating, with interment following in St. Mary Cemetery.
