James Rumpza

James Joseph Rumpza, 81, of Lafayette, passed away at Rosewalk Village Healthcare Center in Lafayette 4:17 AM Wednesday October 4, 2017. He was born in Lafayette March 13, 1936, the son of the late George and Mary Donahoe Rumpza. James was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Indiana State University where he played football. He was a real estate broker and developer, and among his projects was White Oaks on the Lake in Monticello, IN. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Lafayette. Throughout his life, Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved fishing, boating, bicycling, and staying in shape. Jim enjoyed life and laughed freely. He remained friends with his former wife of 25 years, Sandra Russell of Sarasota, FL. Surviving is a daughter, Jennifer Rumpza of Provincetown, MA; a son, Jeffrey Scott Rumpza of Lafayette; a step-daughter, Rebecca Waldron of Indianapolis; a step-son, Brad Dillingham of CA; two sisters, Barbara Wood of Lafayette and Janet Bryant of Bonita Springs, FL and a brother George David Rumpza of Morro Bay, CA. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Michael Rumpza. A memorial mass will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Lafayette Tuesday October 10, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior. Bishop Emeritus William L. Higi, celebrant, and Fr. Dominic G. Young, con-celebrant will be officiating, with inurnment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
