James O'Connor

James D. O'Connor 61, of New Richmond, IN. died at his residence 11:23 AM Thursday May 14, 2009 following an illness with cancer. Born January 1, 1948 in Williamsport, PA. the son of the late George LaFrance and Emma Rebecca Henninger O'Connor, he had resided in New Richmond since 2005, moving from Arizona. Mr. O'Connor married Sheryl Ann Margerum in Crawfordsville, IN. June, 2005, and she survives. He served in the Air Force 21 years, including 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam. He was a member of the New Richmond United Methodist Church; American Legion Post 72 of Crawfordsville; was a former board member and secretary of the Sugar Creek Players with the Vanity Theatre at Crawfordsville; and a member of the Tippecanoe Arts Federation. Prior to moving to New Richmond, he had worked as a golf course mechanic in Arizona. Surviving beside his wife are 5 daughters, Rachel Schrank Of Lafayette, IN; Lori Flores (husband Juan) of Colfax, IN.; Amy Comerford of Maceo, KY.; Amanda McIlwain of Lafayette, IN. and Kathleen McIlwain of New Richmond, IN.; 4 sons, Shephard Jackson (wife Jodi) of Phoenix, AZ.; Thomas Comerford (wife Sarah) of Crawfordsville, IN.; Daniel O'Conner (wife Sylvia) of Phoenix, AZ.; and Nicholas O'Connor of New Richmond, IN.; 2 brothers, John O'Connor (wife Sarah) of Ashfield, MA.; Michael O'Connor (wife Sandy) of Morgantown, PA. and a sister, Mary Renninger (husband Paul) of Williamsport, PA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter. Friends may call at the Grace Fellowship Church, 5529 W. US 136, Waynetown one hour prior to the service at 2 PM Monday, Rev.
