James Dehahn

James "Jim" R. DeHahn, 76, of West Lafayette , passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday August 9, 2017 at 8:34 PM following a brief hospitalization at St Elizabeth Franciscan Hospital. Mr. DeHahn was born in Lafayette, May 22, 1941, the son of the late Beulah "Boots" Rumpza (Murr) and George DeHahn. Jim was a 1959 graduate of Lafayette Central Catholic High School. He married his high school sweetheart Eleanor R. Brickler in Lafayette, IN on July 30, 1960 and she survives. Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral. He enjoyed the great outdoors and feeding a wide variety of birds and animals at their Prophetstown home on the Wabash. Jim enjoyed the winters in his adopted hometown of Daytona Beach, FL and many family vacations with his children and grandchildren. Mr. DeHahn retired in 2002 from a career in supervision at Fairfield Manufacturing. Surviving with his wife Eleanor are daughter, Christine Pass (husband Mike) of West Lafayette, IN; sons, Richard (wife Beth) DeHahn of Lafayette, IN and Thomas DeHahn of Chicago, IL; sister, Carol (husband Richard) Fischer of Rossville, IN; step sisters Barb Wood of Lafayette, IN and Janet Bryant of Bonita Springs, FL; and stepbrothers Jim Rumpza of Lafayette, IN and George Rumpza of Morro Bay, California. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jeremy( wife Brieanne) Birge, Cortney (husband Greg) Wheeler, Ashton DeHahn, and Luke DeHahn, and 3 great-granddaughters, Ella, Haddie and Brynn. The Rosary will be recited at 2:45 PM, with visitation to follow until 6:00 PM Sunday August 13 at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St. Lafayette, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lafayette, IN at 10:30 AM on Monday August 14 with interment to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Fr. Jeff Martin officiating.
