James “Jim” Arnold Castor, 86, went home to Our Lord on March 12, 2025. He was born and raised in Lafayette, Indiana, on June 1, 1938, to John Arnold Castor and Teresa Woodworth Castor.
As a descendant of Corporal John Castor of the American Revolution’s Albany Militia and of Captain John Castor of the Union Army, Jim continued his family’s history of honorable service to his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958.
Following the end of his military service he attended Purdue University and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, laying the foundation for a life devoted to helping others through his profession. Jim was a respected pharmacist in Lafayette, Logansport and Skokie, IL. In both his profession and as a parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral, he exemplified the values of hard work, diligence, and service to God and his fellow man.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents John Arnold Castor and Teresa Woodworth Castor as well as his brothers Richard Lawrence Castor and John Woodworth Castor.
Jim is survived by his brother Robert Thomas Castor of Kingwood, TX; niece Geraldine Margarita Castor of Kingwood, TX; great-nieces Victoria Elaine Brooks (spouse of Sage Brooks) of Austin, TX, and Alexandra Raquel Brooks (spouse of Kaye McKee) of Houston, TX, nephew Joseph David Castor of Fort Worth, TX as well as many other family members.
A graveside service will be held on May 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lafayette, IN. Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home of Lafayette is caring for the Castor family. Memories and condolences may be left at www.hahngroeberfuneralhome.com
