James Brickler

James Robert Brickler, 58, of Lafayette, died at his residence 12:26 AM Tuesday May 31, 2011. He had been in ill health since 2006. Mr. Bricker was born in Lafayette November 29, 1952, the son of the late William Paul and Kathleen Elizabeth Bateman Brickler, Sr., and was a lifelong Lafayette resident. He was a 1971 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School, and attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute. Mr. Brickler married Kathy L. Burwell in Lafayette, IN. July 26, 1975, and she survives. He was employed at Essex Wire for 25 years, and later for the Rohrman dealerships as a porter. Mr. Brickler was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, served as a Eucharistic minister, and was a past president of the St. Lawrence Men's Club. He and his wife also co-chaired the St. Lawrence garage sale for several years and enjoyed bowling in various leagues. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Kristinia L. Hammack (husband Bryce of Tell City, IN.; a son, Andrew P. Brickler (wife Jamie) of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister, Judith K. Wagoner (husband Wayne) of Lafayette, IN.; and 2 brothers, Gregory E. Brickler (wife Mauna) of Indianapolis, IN. and William P. Brickler, Jr. (wife Linda) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Zachary James, Coy Daniel and Brady Jefferson, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Shawn and Kaycie Laughner. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from the Rosary at 4:45 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial 2:00 PM Friday, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fr. Dan Gartland, Celebrant, Fr. Eric Underwood and Fr. Paul Faulstich, S.J., Con-celebrants officiating. Interment to follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, 1221 S. Creasy Lane Ste. F, Lafayette, IN. 47905; the American Cancer Society; Payton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis or St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
