Jack Tarter

Jack W. Tarter, 78, of Lafayette, passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette 5:55 PM Friday August 14, 2020. Jack was born in Decatur, IL February 13, 1942, the son of the late Virl P. and Grace (Foster) Tarter and was a graduate of Ambia, IN High School. He was employed as a welder for Burger Steel 25 years before retiring in 1998. Jack enjoyed reading and watching ghost stories and spending time with his cats. Surviving is a daughter, Kim Reid (Roy) of Lafayette, IN; two sons, Tim Tarter (Cathy) of Frankfort, IN and Tony Tarter (Cecelia) of Indianapolis, IN; along with a sister Lucille Cooper of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. A graveside service will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens 11:00 AM Wednesday August 19, with Pastor Mike Vauters officiating.
