Harriet (Burgess) Kamp, 91 passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13th, at Saint Anthony Healthcare, where she had been for a month. She had resided at Five Star Assisted Living. Harriet was born on August the 21, 1934, to the late Harry and Marie (Brickler) Burgess Jr. in Lafayette, Indiana. She was a lifelong member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and helping with funeral dinners and the German Fest. She attended Saint Boniface Grade School and graduated from Saint Francis High School in 1952.
Harriet met her husband, James Kamp at ALCOA, where they both worked. They were married at Saint Boniface on November 7, 1980. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1998. Harriet retired from ALCOA after thirty years and was in the bowling league and a member of the Twenty-Five Year Club. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and taught CCD on Sunday mornings at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica. Harriet and Jim were involved in Saint Ann soup kitchen for over two decades. She helped out at the Gus Macker basketball tournament in Lafayette for many years and much liked volunteering in the gift shop at Franciscan Hospital for eleven years where she made many friends. Harriet and Jim were good Purdue fans and attended many games and bowl games. They were often going to Cincinnati Ohio for Reds baseball games, being great fans. Harriet enjoyed playing cards, BINGO and her coffee. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by a brother Ronald (Joellen) Burgess, and two sisters, Joan (Dannie deceased) Neal and Barbara (Robert deceased) Lemond, many nephews, nieces and great nephews and great nieces.
The visitation will be held on Friday, November 21 from 4:00 PM until Rosary at 6:00 PM at Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home in Lafayette. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 22 with Fa. Dudzinski officiating and Fa. David Buckles con-celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials may be made to Saint Ann's soup kitchen or Saint Boniface building fund.
