Geraldine Rose Veverka

October 18, 1929 — January 15, 2026

Williamsport

Geraldine “Gerry” Rose Veverka, 96, of Williamsport passed away at her home on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Born in Cleveland, OH on October 18, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Jaeger) Stenger. Gerry was a 1948 graduate of Marymount Catholic High School in Cleveland, OH. She married Eugene A. Veverka at St. Benedict’s Church in Cleveland, OH on August 9, 1958. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2000.

Gerry carried her faith with her throughout her life, a testament to her deep devotion to her Catholic upbringing. Her aspirations in her earlier years included dreams of entering the religious life as a nun and pursuing a modeling career, embodying the beauty of spirit and personality. Known for her fun-loving nature and unwavering loyalty, she cherished the importance of both faith and family—principles that anchored her life. She enjoyed going to casinos and had a special love for animals.

Gerry contributed many years in a wide variety of positions, including model, amusement park vendor, cashier and bank teller - but the role she cherished most was as mother to her son, Gary. Gerry's active engagement with her community shone through her involvement in various parishes, including Assumption Parish in Geneva, OH, St. Joseph in Jefferson, OH, St. Jude in Spencer, IN, and St. Patrick’s in Oxford, IN.

Gerry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved son, Gary (Margie) Veverka, along with her grandchildren: Megan (Karl) Tollefson, Danielle (Kyle) Pitstick, Conner Veverka, and Nicholas Veverka. Additionally, she leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren (Dalton Thacker, Braden Thacker, Kylee Tollefson, Xander Tollefson, Dallas Pitstick, Houston Pitstick and Austin Pitstick) who brought her immense joy and pride.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Eugene Veverka, and her brothers William, Thomas, and Eugene Stenger.
