Freda Layton

Freda A. Layton, 72, of Linden, IN. died at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in Crawfordsville 4:01 PM Thursday September 10, 2009, where she had been a patient the past three and a half years. Born in Crawfordsville, IN. July 1, 1937, the daughter of the late Edward O. "Eddie" and Lulu May Hauser Barton, she was a graduate of Linden High School. She married David O. Layton in Linden June 8, 1963, and he survives. Mrs. Layton, a homemaker, was a member of the Woodland Heights Christian Church at Crawfordsville, and also a member of the Order of Easter Star, Athens Chapter 97 also of Crawfordsville. Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Maria E. Yang (husband Xaioping) of Columbus, Indiana, and a brother, William Woodrow "Woody" Barton of Spencer, Indiana. Also surviving are 2 granddaughters, Lulu Fay and Jasmine Yang, and a daughter of the heart, Karen Engle (husband Al). Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Linden from 5 until 8 PM Monday, with Order of Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the funeral home 11:00 AM Tuesday, Rev. Patty French officiating with interment to follow in Linden Cemetery.
