Floyd Rasmussen

Floyd R. Rasmussen, 84, of Oxford, IN. died at the Illiana VA Medical Center in Danville, IL. Friday evening September 3, 2010. He was born in Oxford September 23, 1925, the son of the late Henry and Rosa Cook Rasmussen, and attended Oxford High School. Mr. Rasmussen married Donna M. Gilbert at Oxford June 5, 1948 and she survives. He was a member of the former Oxford Presbyterian Church, and the former VFW Post in Oxford. Mr. Rasmussen had worked for Peerless Wire Goods in Lafayette for a number of years, and farmed in Benton County. He and his brother, George Rasmussen formerly co-owned and operated Rasmussen TV and Appliance in Oxford. He enjoyed fishing, boating and vacationing with his family. Surviving with his wife are 2 daughters, Beth Shoaf (husband Gene) of Attica, IN.; Evon D. Rasmussen of Oxford, IN.; 2 sons, Ernest R. Rasmussen of Attica, IN. and Royce A. Rasmussen (wife Elizabeth) of Charleston, IL.; and 2 brothers, George Rasmussen of Lafayette, IN. and Russell Rasmussen (wife Ellen) of Oxford, IN. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren . He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Rev. Bill Johnson officiating.
