F. Robert “Bob” Brown, 88, of Lafayette, passed away at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette 8:15 AM Monday June 26, 2023 where he had been a patient for the past week. Bob was born August 11, 1934 in Lafayette, IN the son of the late Floyd Edward and Susan (Alkire) Brown and was a graduate of Williamsport, IN High School. He married Ruth Ann Winter in Lafayette August 9,1969 and she survives. Bob served as a deputy with the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Major in 1989, and was employed by the Purdue University Transportation Department from 1989 until retiring in 1999. He attended Grace United Methodist Church and was a member of the Tippecanoe County Fraternal Order of Police Arman Lodge 49. Bob enjoyed camping and walking his dogs Shiloh and Annie. Surviving with his wife Ruth Ann are two sons, Robert Edward Brown (Rose) of Lafayette and Scott Alan Brown of Alexandria, VA. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Devareaux Brown (Andrew Archer) and Kimberly Charles (Cody) and three great-grandchildren, Emma Archer, Avery Archer and Maximus Charles. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother in infancy. A private family service will be held.
