Eleanor Mclaughlin

Eleanor T. McLaughlin, 84, of West Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital 7:05 PM Wednesday July 14, 2010, where she had been a patient for the past 6 days. Eleanor was born June 24, 1926 in Scranton, PA., the daughter of the late Francis A. and Leona M. Neave Trethewey. She was a graduate of Syracuse University, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Eleanor had worked as a Registered Nurse at Lafayette Home Hospital, and had also taught nursing at Home Hospital. She married John F. McLaughlin in Lafayette, IN. November 22, 1950, and he survives. Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette; a member of the Mary L. Matthews Club; the League of Women Voters and the Art League of Lafayette. Surviving with her husband are 2 daughters, Susan A. McLaughlin (husband Alan Rebar) of West Lafayette, IN.; Cynthia L. Armstrong (husband John W.) of Westfield, IN.; and 2 sons, Donald F. McLaughlin (wife Lara) of Cupertino, CA. and Kevin J. McLaughlin (wife Paula M.) of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, David and Catherine Armstrong and Abigail and William McLaughlin; and a great-grandson, Caden Armstrong. She was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Trethewey.
